Janeen, you can do it!!! Seriously, you can! I was always a smoker! I quit cold turkey all four times I got pregnant. I know it's not easy, but it sure can be done! Just remember, that baby's inhaling too. Well, I don't really know if that's the truth, but picture it, down in the pit of your womb is a baby sucking on a cigarette! I know I'm quitting, I won't have it any other way really. But the excuses are still there. Ya know, sneaking a few here and there probably wouldn't hurt since my mom smoked during all five of her pregnancies...people do it all time...I'm only four weeks and baby doesn't get stuff from me till 6...yadda yadda.
It shall be done though. :)
Good note though, in the past month or so I did cut back from about 30 smokes a day to 7. Not too shabby eh?

Totally know the nighttime groping. For me it's worse when I'm naked-it's like some subliminal switch is flipped in Jack's head and he goes all caveman in the bed in his sleep. At least Scharae is indiscriminate and titty-twists the same no matter what I'm wearing-or not wearing. OUCH!
LMAO!! That's great. I've never received a titty twist from elmobo. That would be an experience! She did step on it one time when I was laying on my side. Oh goodness. THAT was some pain.
I confess men are nasty and stinky!
I confess I'm just happy DH is nastier and stinker than I am!

From what I hear, it's always best to cut down before you quit completely! haha I could SOOO be wrong though. I'm full of wrong information. Good luck mama! I know how hard it is. But, i've officially been smoke free since March of 2007! :hooray:

I do most of the groping at night
Jimi is usually asleep before I am so I fall asleep hugging on him and kissing his back.
I would think it would bother him but it doesn't, he even lets out little moans in his sleep.

I confess I don't even sleep with my husband. :pace:
Me either. It's because he snores and we havent' had the $$ to get him a sleep study which would hopefully get him a CPAP machine. I confess I think losing 30 lbs would help, too.

You can do it, Janeen. I smoked more than 2 packs a day for almost 20 years and quit four years ago. It sounds cheesy, but a book I read really helped. It boiled down to the fact that the craving is not coming from intelligent and rational Janeen, but the irrational and crazy addiction that lives inside of you - your body is telling your head what to think, but your head CAN say no and you won't DIE without one (which is what it always felt like to me).
In case you are interested, here's the website with more info:

Don't let the cheesy fluff fool you - inside all the marketing talk, the message is incredibly valuable.

And, I confess I joined a new gym today. It's a lot more expensive than my old one but they have a lot more to offer. I've been to the weight loss room for support but it's kind of quiet. Can you guys help me? I'm about 20 lbs. overweight and I've been asking about 6 times over the last year if I'm pregnant (or not really asked, most times, but just congratulated, without asking) So can you guys like, get on my case? I need help.
I hate it when people ask me when I'm due. Um, October 2007?
I also need to lose about 20 pounds. On Tuesday I plan to purchase some software called Calorie King - I input what I want to lose and by when, and the program tells me my limits and keeps track of my nutrition, etc. Every day I enter what I ate and any exercise I did and the software tells me how many calories I have eaten and how many burned, etc.
I tried it free for a week online and lost about a pound (I hate dieting so I take it slow). It was pretty motivating in terms of exercise (the more you move the more you get to eat!) and also it kept me from eating cookies and other sweet things that I would have had I not had to write them down, kwim?
Good luck!

Yep, it's pretty much too hot to swim. And summers down here are like winters up north, you just don't go outside.

I confess that DH and I have decided that we're going to buy a mobile home that the owner will carry. It seems like the cheapest, easiest, most convenient and money savvy way to save money and still be able to get more bedrooms etc while I am in school. It won't be right away though as we will need to save for the down payment.
We were planning on renting a house and we want three bedrooms. We really need an office/study space and of course a baby room. DH approached me with the idea of buying a mobile and I told him as long as it's a nice one and not all trailer trashy I am absolutely fine with it. We can live cheap, as in like a couple to a few hundred a month to the owner and then a couple to a few hundred for the space rent, and then when I graduate from school in a couple/few years and am working as a nurse, we can sell it and buy a real house. By that time we will be more than able to since we had a bankruptcy last year and we will be financially set to as well. Apparently this is the route his uncle took with a wife, a kid and a kid on the way while he was in med school. Sounds alright to me!

He's just a little b!tch that gets away with any/everything.. I honestly haven't spoken to him in over a week because he just irritates me.
I confess FIL and sMIL called DH and I downstairs to talk to us, and one of the things they mentioned was that we are "buying too much junk food, and need to stop keeping food in our room"
They said they understand that we buy certain things JUST for us, and that's fine, but they'd prefer we keep it in the kitchen, and just write "Ashley's ________" or "Brandon's ________" because as sMIL says "Food in the bedroom invites bugs"
sBIL has said MANY times "I don't care who's it is... if its in the kitchen, I'll eat it" and he did eat over half of the frozen pizzas we had in the freezer....

Boo to him! Maybe ask em about you getting a little kegerator frig for your room? Would they still think it would attract bugs if you put the food in a frig?

That's irritating. Although, I have tried to convince Mike not to take food back to OUR room. . .he was eating in there with madi and they were making a mess. . .and we have ants, bleh.
Do they know he's eating your food (I assume you're using your funds to buy it)? Could you keep a dorm-sized fridge in your room?

I confess ya'll went post crazy this weekend - sheesh, THREE PAGES to catch up on!
I confess I miss being on line at home, but with a teething/virus laden little leach of a son, it just ain't happening.
I confess Audrianna was just playing with DH's box of cheezits and I didn't realize it was open, as she was shaking it all over the place. She dumped a good 2 handfuls of crackers all over DH's side of the bed..
I confess I am letting her eat them, and am contemplating just leaving whatever she doesn't eat.. lol
 That's evil and I love it.
I confess that I am really craving a cigarette but have refrained from buying any.
I confess that I just keep telling myself "Move on, there's a baby in you. The thoughts and cravings will pass. DO, NOT, BUY, SMOKES."
You can do it woman. Be strong.
I know it's not easy, but it sure can be done! Just remember, that baby's inhaling too. Well, I don't really know if that's the truth, but picture it, down in the pit of your womb is a baby sucking on a cigarette! LOL Ok. that was way dramatic and probably not even close to the truth!
But in all seriousness, you can do it!!! I have total faith!
The baby isn't inhaling, but IS getting all the nasty gunk that you take in. I remember that point from the birthing and breastfeeding classes we took. The chemicals and nicotine in cigarettes, if you smoked while pregnant, would hit the baby's bloodstream in under 2 minutes. I was surprised at how fast that is.
LMAO!! That's great. I've never received a titty twist from elmobo. That would be an experience! She did step on it one time when I was laying on my side. Oh goodness. THAT was some pain.
Liam's gotten like that with a knee or elbow a couple of times, but rat terrier is almost 10 years old and just LOVES to nipple stomp. That's one of the reasons I wore a bra to bed throughout my pregnancy. The nips were sore to begin with, and being mashed between the bed and a dog foot was enough to make me yelp and cry more than once.

Good luck. I know you can do it! I confess, I had quit completely for almost 6 months, and just recently started up again. If Dean had quit too, I would have stayed quit for good. Or if I had the extra motivator of a pregnancy, I could do it for good.

Lol, I confess that this reminds me of this anti-smoking campaign that was running on the radio around here a year or two ago...it had this song that went
My name's Cletus the Fetus,
I'm hooked on nicotine
'Cause my mom's [something something]
She's a tobacco queen...
I don't remember the rest, but it was such a silly, catchy tune that even though I hated it I always had to sing along when it came on the radio. While smoking.

Poor little guy! He's probably less upset about it, now that it's over, than you are. When we were in Wyoming Claire face-planted onto concrete and bled all over the place and then looked like she had a gigantic herpes lesion on her mouth for all of our trip pictures. After the initial crying, she was totally fine, as she has been for every other injury. I hope Travis feels just as fine, and his marks go away soon so you can stop having the visual reminder.

I tend to lose patience with endless griping also. But I have found in my life that most men are terrible about going to the doctor. My sister gave up trying to ask or coerce her husband and now she just makes appointments for him and tells him when and where he needs to go.

I confess I'm really annoyed with DH right now.
I have been talking for years about wanting to work music therapy into my speech therapy sessions. I have two kids right now who could really benefit from it (one I think is a savant). Today at work my sort-of boss came to observe one of the students and told me he started out as a music therapist. He asked if I played guitar and I told him I was teaching myself. He then offered to show me the types of rhythms and patterns that would work for my kids and said he'd come by at a certain time to work with the kids / teach me.
I am SO excited about this.
The first thing I did when I got home was tell DH and now he is JEALOUS! It's my #$%@ boss ... I'm not trying to have an affair you idiot!
I confess I was told I made the lunch lady cry today.

We are still keeping the food in our room -- in the closet now. lol

I confess I felt like a successful mom for the first time in a while today. I was able to calm him down when he was nervous about going to the day care at my new gym. Then he was laughing and smiling with me most of the day. We had no major outbursts. I was able to get him to eat some sandwich before his cookie even though he begged and begged to not have lunch, just the cookie. And he ate half a pb&j and some strawberries for a snack later. Then DH came home and was totally rude to me and I felt like I was failing at raising DH. LOL

I confess I'm sitting here in the breakroom at work, trying to pull myself together because my patient was sobbing while talking about her husband dying after a bout with cancer. I started crying while she was talking because I was empathizing with her, and because it brought back so many painful memories about how terribly consumed with grief the first few months after a loved one's death can be. I have a really hard time not getting emotional when people talk about their loved ones being sick or dying now, and this one just pushed me over the edge. I can't believe that it's been three years and I still get surprised by my emotions sometimes.
I was glad to see a happy video with Evie crawling, though. Thanks for helping me stop crying.
And congrats on the successful blood draw.

:hugs::hugs:
I think that is going to be tough for me too. Trying not to cry when I hear of such tragedy. :(

Thanks, Lydia. He's a lot better today. I think my FIL was the most traumatized as he wouldn't say boo to a goose (as they say here in England), so he felt quite guilty over the incident.
LOL
You are a great mom. Give yourself a pat on the back; you deserve it! I always notice on your posts how hard you work at being the best you can be for him.
I confess that DH and I each had three cigarettes today. :shame:
Aw, Janeen, I know you don't need us telling you you need to stop, but dang it, woman, stop smoking! You can do it!
I confess... I offered and he turned me down. Talk about stomping on a girls self-esteem. It's not that great to start with, and this happens all of the time. :ohno:
I confess I wish I had something positive to confess about.
Tell him you will be looking for a boyfriend if he don't give it up soon...that always works with my DH.
Lydia, thanks to your luck, things worked out WAY better the next time we tried things :silly:
Woot woot! She's a saucy spy. ;)
I confess for the first time yesterday I did a successful butterfly blood draw!!! It was also from a student with the veins hardly anyone was successful with :D
Great job, Alisha!

Awesome about the music therapy!! I've helped out and supported one of my kids with two ladies here who have their own practice doing combined music and art therapy. The kids love it and have so much fun! :)
How'd you make the lunch lady cry???
And today's issue with sBIL -- I found my missing (MU Tigers) re-usable grocery bag. He was using it for his dirty stinky gym clothes!! WTF dude?! Use a plastic bag!!
I'd have an issue with someone using my stuff for this reason, even though I think stinky gym clothes are the perfect thing to go in an MU Tigers bag. :P
I confess that DH and I each had three cigarettes today. :shame:

I confess that I am about to go OFF on these new lame ass neighbors of ours. DH got a call this morning that they have been complaining about the bass on our tv. Yeah, it's a 61 inch tv and yeah it is near the wall that is their living room wall but guess what??? We don't have a bass booster on it and it is NEVER above 20 and it isn't even touching the wall. A few days ago my niece and I were watching tv and all of a sudden there is really loud banging on the wall. I figured they were hanging some pictures or something. Then I looked at my niece after it continued for a few rounds and said "Surely they can't hear that tv right???" and decided there was no way. Wellllllllll apparantly they can. The other neighbors never said anything about it. Apparently these two are law students and can't study because of our tv that is always at a normal household level??? I told DH he needs to tell the HOA dude to tell these neighbors too bad because there's a student in this house and she likes to study with her tv on. :P
Anyway, I came home tonight and decided to test the waters...I turned the tv on and not even 5 minutes later they were banging on the wall again!!!
I confess that I banged right the eff back. :pokey:

I confess that I'm annoyed because I've tried three times to book our November vacation to Mexico and each time I get all the way through the reservation process, filling out names and frequent flyer numbers, choosing seats on the plane, and filling in all of the credit card and billing info, only to be told I can't complete it at the end because the flight is no longer available. Now there is nothing convenient or inexpensive available, and it is interesting that all of the best flights are gone.
I wrote a letter to customer service. I hate to think of spending an extra $1000 to get inconvenient flights.

When we did the move from CA to AR, DH called the airline to verify, from a live human being, that there was enough room on the flight to bring 2 cabin pets and 1 cargo pet. They said "sure!", he booked... five minutes later he gets a phone call "well one of the cats will have to stay in Denver (our layover) because there's not enough room on the 2nd plane"... So we cancelled and they refused to refund our money for almost a month... :eyeroll:

I hardly ever go into political threads. It's too difficult to change the minds of those with whom I disagree, and usually someone else has said what I would have wanted to say, only more eloquently. I read them though, and am usually shocked by what different people say--it gives me a broader grasp of how people across the country are thinking, as opposed to my liberal haven here. And it helps me realize why certain laws are on the books or why certain presidents got elected.

I confess that I have thought about homeschooling but a big part of me says no way in fear of seclusion and lack of exposure to all kinds of different things.
I confess that I knew this woman who homeschooled her children and you could tell that these little girls were kind of recluses. They seemed kind of empty and I feel that had a big part to do with the lack of exposure and seclusion I mentioned. I know it doesn't have to be that way but I just think it kind of is more times than not. Just my opinion of course.

EXACTLY! And yes, there are definitely people out there that don't want their own children to think - mine parents included. I wasn't allowed to form my own opinions until I moved out of my parent's home, which is one of the reasons I'm so ****ed intent on letting Lorelai discover her own beliefs, in her own time. I remember feeling so oppressed and jaded because I was the liberal/atheiest/black sheep in my my pretty conservative, miltary-loving, god-fearing family.

I confess I actually had no idea how my parents felt about most things, including politics and religion--they never talked about it. We never had talks about current events. Growing up without a tv or a radio or newspapers, I didn't know anything that was going on. I remember feeling really ignorant in school and admiring my friends who were well-versed in current events and pop culture. I am also grateful to all of my teachers, who helped me think and develop and evaluate information and form opinions of my own.
It is only lately that I have started asking my parents how they feel about issues. It never occurred to me before.

I confess I have mixed feeling about homeschooling. I know many areas have structured activities parents can involve their homeschooled kids in, but parents have to take the initiative and do it, and I don't know that the social interaction is as rounded as attending school outside the home.
I confess we have toyed with the idea of homeschooling Liam when older - that, or we have to move to get into a different school district before he hits high school.

I confess....I may have come off more anti-homeschooling in my little rant there than I actually am. I do understand why some people would want to do it - I can think of a bunch of pretty good reasons. But I don't think its ALWAYS the best choice for the kids. Not everyone is a great teacher, especially of their own kids. My mom is actually a really fantastic teacher (ballet, not school)...to everyone but ME, pretty much. I'm so glad she didn't home school me, it would have been big trouble. Why am I going on about this? I don't know. Rambling.
Anyway, all I meant was that if people want to homeschool, thats A-OK with me, but I get irritated when people say that they are homeschooling because of made up reasons (like, the teachers are trying to turn their kids against them, like the media, its a huge liberal CONSPIRACY!).
But I also come from a place with very well funded public schools in general. When I hear about some of the school situations in the states, it is shocking to me. Still...don't blame the teachers! They aren't responsible for the lack of funding, etc. bah. I'm still ranting.
I confess my real problem is that I got basically NO sleep last night. How on earth did I function when Norah was a baby and never slept at night? Oh, right. I didn't. (yawn).

re: the homeschooling comments--I have a friend who is homeschooling her younger 2, who are only 3 and 5 now, so I don't know how long she plans on doing it for. Actually she calls it "unschooling" and I'm not sure of the difference. Anyway she just involves them in playgroups and has made lots of friends who unschool or homeschool. She goes to homeschooling conferences around the country all the time and the kids make friends there. I think the social aspect can be there. It just seems like the parents would have to work harder at bringing the peers to their children, since the children are not going to their peers in the school setting.

I confess I came in here to confess I'm losing my mind. I could not find the picture hooks yesterday so I asked DH to find them and put them out for me. He did, and I was in the process of hanging some pictures today. I got distracted and when I got back to work I could not find the hooks again! So I practically tore the house apart looking for them. I sat down to take a rest and post to you guys about it and guess what! They're next to the computer! Guess I know what I was distracted by when I lost them!

I confess due to all the fires our camping trip for this weekend is canceled. It would have been Leo's first time too.
I also confess that a part of me is relieved because its a pain packing and unpacking, getting all the dirt out of the clothes, and having to deal with the inlaws all weekend. Not to mention how much is spent on gas and food and propane. Sshhhhh...

Mmmmhmmm.

I confess that my parents were kind of the opposite, or my mom was. She rammed her views down our throats and I was afraid to oppose because she was kind of a my way or the highway mom. Even now I don't discuss certain things with her because she can't see past what she thinks and if I think different then she feels like she failed me somehow. Although, thankfully she has changed her strict Catholic viewpoints and questioning much of what she rammed down our throats then.
I confess I feel bad saying anything remotely negative about her because she's sick. I do love her dearly. I only wish she'd been a bit more flexible and open when we were growing up.

I confess my parents never spoke of their political"ness" either. And really, they've never had strong political views. They never associated with dems or repubs. My mom has never voted in her ENTIRE life until this past year for Obama. I was so proud of her! Not for voting for HIM, but for voting! Made me a little teary eyed watching it. LOL. Isn't that supposed to be the other way around??

Yes, this is one subject my mom and I can agree on 100% which is nice. Plus it's great for her to have this focus and energy for something she sees as positive. She needs as much positive energy as she can muster up right now. That's the whole thing! For the past however long, my local newspaper has been NOTHING but negative CRAP. Stocks at an all time low, jobs gone everywhere, blah blah, factories closing all over town, restaurants out of business left and right. And this is just in my town. Yesterday, I opened up the newspaper, and in that newspaper was article after article about positive, awesome things happening! We had a factory close down 2 years ago for GOOD. About 2,000 employees lost their jobs. Two weeks ago, this company OPENED BACK UP and all those people got their jobs back. And no it wasn't for the car industry, and no it wasn't for a short period of time before they got laid off again! They got their jobs back! Stocks are up! In the past 3 or 4 years, we lost a Ponderosa, two chinese restaurants, a golden corral, a mexican place, and three fast food places. There are new restaurants moving into EVERY single place except for ONE. ONE. People are getting jobs at a MUCH better rate lately than in the past 5 or so years.
The proof is in the pudding. I like pudding.

I start a digital imaging class in a couple of weeks, so maybe it will be more apparent then. but yeah, PITA upgrade with no benefit and lots of cost!

That's totally how I pictured you.:silly:
I know, right? I'm hot.
Okay, I hate having my picture taken and when I looked just now the only pics I have of me on this computer are from my wedding! Yikes, that was a long time ago.
Here I am, just for you, Kate. But I really don't normally look like this. And my eyes are bloodshot because I had to wear a ripped contact lens.

I confess my mother came to volunteer at my school today. I didn't see much of her as she was in one of the teacher's classrooms. She later told me one of the teacher's aide's told her "Oh, you're that cute little SLP's mom, right?"
My mother SAID TO ME ... she must have meant the other SLP. She didn't mean you, did she?
The other SLP is hispanic with jet black hair and dark skin. My mother is as white as I am.

Ugh. This seems to be a pattern. I felt the same with the last upgrade, too. Not cool.
After this last new macbook I felt forced to get (because you can't flippin' upgrade, you have to buy new!), I am really off macs. I like them just fine, but not enough to pay double what a pc notebook would have been and then all these back end charges that increased the total by another $500 (so far!). I just want to know how they can sell me a computer without any word processing or excel and then expect me to pay another $80 for those programs! Grr. They should be on there! That should just be the bare minimum - I don't need garage band, I need to type up a frickin' invoice!
Oh, and all my documents that were created on my last mac are too "old" to translate so I might as well have gotten a pc for all the good this mac was for continuity and ease of transition.
Too late: I should have said "don't get me started!"

I confess living in England does have its benefits sometimes. When I first moved here, I thought I'd eventually go back to America one day. Now that I've been here 6 1/2 years, I don't think I want to be anywhere else. :)
I confess I'm green with envy. Tred talks about moving to the UK several times a year - usually spurred by politics or insurance or job stress, or if his mom is pissing him off. I figure if it ever happens it won't be until parents pass. I can't imaging traveling internationally to visit my parents, whom I'm very close too and would miss too much.
I confess. . .I wonder why it is that I'm consistently ignored?? Relevance? Intelligence? Confidence? Timing? All of the above? :P
ITA with PPs - must just be timing. :winks:
Grrrrrrrr. I installed Snow Leopard on my mac and it instantly disabled my printer. Stupid Apple makes it so I can't uninstall the stupid new operating system, and stupid Hewlett Packard won't make a patch for my four year old printer but the WILL give me a 25% discount on a new $200 printer. No one's website mentions any sort of difficulty with printer drivers, but apparently it has happened with a lot of different brands as well. So frustrating - it makes me feel like they are all in collusion
I confess I have just pointed this (and later posts) about snow leopard to Tred. He's in love with his macbook (and frankly, so am I). He was planning on installing this, and now is looking into issues first. So Thanks for the heads up!

I just have to remember that some people JUST pop in because they like to make trouble/be mean/feel superior. It works, of course. And they have lots of practice.
Though, I guess that some people might mistake my emotion and outrage for 'feeling superior'. I guess asking people to read up on something *before* making up crazy stuff up is acting all superior now. Well....okay then. I'm comfortable with that.

Spinning is one of the BEST cardio workouts and can burn up to 800 calories in a session, which is what will burn off your belly! I used it a long time ago to lose some weight, fortunately I didn't have as much to lose back then as I do now, but it whipped my flab into shape really quickly.
:
Does it burn fat from the legs? I've got hideously large legs. :yuk:
Yup, it is great for muscle tone for the legs and burning fat because of the cardio component. It is REALLY hard though and takes a while to build up your stamina, if you have a good teacher. I know I am not ready for a spinning class just yet.

Political threads always crack me up most of the time, rarely do I get upset since I have spoken to a bunch of kooks IRL and during my time as customer service rep, and not just right leaning people, there are plenty of ultra-left leaning kooks in the world. You wouldn't believe the crap people will tell someone they don't even know about their political beliefs or racist attitudes.
I can understand people being upset about political issues though, even the healthcare issue and educational issues of course, but to get upset at a speech is just pulling straws IMO and a useless focus on a useless topic. Suing public schools regarding a public speech is just priceless and makes me lol!!

I confess that I really need to self-ban myself from all political threads because it makes me really upset, raises my blood pressure, and makes me really scared and disappointed.
Yes, this. Me too.

What was it, and how are you going to incorporate it? I love hearing things like this, because it makes me feel like a good mom and I also love sharing ideas.

The binoculars and birds activity. Even though I work with school age children, about half of them aren't speaking in sentences yet. I can practice both sentence structure and vocabulary with this. I can also target speech sounds by carefully picking the shapes I hang up! So, two birds with one stone!
It's hard to find things that the kids enjoy and I'm not sick and tired of, since I treat the same things year after year.

I confess okay, I'm not really stinky...my hair is just a grease pit from not being washed in two, well now three days.
I confess that I ended up having to take a nap like I do every freaking day now. LOL
I confess hmmmm, I wonder what really stinks over at Big E's place. :chinscratch: :P

I confess I'm also using Lydia's binocular birdwatching activity around here-I've got zoo animals, shapes, clouds, numbers, ABCs and am working on birds and we're going to rotate what we're hunting for...I might be going overboard...we'll see. I think my girls will love it. I have a feeling they'll be taking the binoculars everywhere with them. And I do mean everywhere. Like bed, the bath (already had to make a new pair for each of them!), shopping...
I confess that I'm pretty sure I had that 3 wolves shirt as a child, but it was from Alaska. I might be wrong, but it looked pretty similar...but I don't think my grandma was cool enough to have bought it because of the reviews! Awesome, Lydia!
