Is it normal for a baby to spit up after feeding?

Keegan did at that age. Well almost every time. Now that he's a bit older he doesn't spit up as much.

I read it's normal to spit up up to 2 Tbl. after feeding. I think as long as there is not a cry associated with it, they're fine.

I remember reading that too, BF babies still get some air in and need a little burping. Vance went through a real spit up faze from about 3-5 weeks, this week has been a lot better so I don't know if he is just inhaling less air or if we just have a better burping routine.

yes, some spit up is normal, even in BFd babies.

Also, you mentioned you were giving formula at night... that could be contributing to your LO's spit up :)

DS spit up after every feeding for about 4 months. The pedi said not to worry as long as he was gaining weight normally and not in pain when he spit up.

Annie spit up a lot too. But she always seemed happy enough with it, didn't act like she was in any sort of pain, and has always been a steady gainer.

Annie also had a habit of occasionally projectile vomiting too. Just wanted to throw that out there, because the first time she did it, it freaked me right the heck out...I thought something was terribly wrong....but no - she was fine. That just happened a handful of times.

Yep, lots of spitting up here. As long as baby is a happy spitter, no problems (besides lots of clothing changes for you both!). Watch for any pain symptoms as mentioned above.

She got my poor hubby last night twice. At night I feed and he will burp her well he got a little more then he wanted. She never cries when this happens it is like nothing happened.

Yes, that's totally normal. Hayden spit up after every feeding until about 4 months. Now its just every once in a while.

IF they dont cry right after spitting up, then it's ok. Tessa still spits up right after eating. She is all smiles and she gains weight very well. If they seem to be in pain, there might be reflux issue.

Make sure you try some burping techniques during and after feedings. Some babies have more trouble with air and need to be burped differnetly. Try the clockwise (counterclockwise?) motion on the back versus patting. If there's no pain, there's no real need for concern.
