When I took KayDee to the dr. last week they said that now pediatricians have decided that breastfed babies need a vitamin supplement. Do you supplement your babies and I thought breastmilk had everything they needed???

We do not supplement. When he first came home from the NICU they had him on vitamins, but not because he was breastfed, just to give him extra help for being a preemie. Our doc and the NICU team all were aware we exclusively BF and they dont seem to have any issues.

The only vitamin that you may want to consider is Vitamin D. Everything else is 100% supplied through breastmilk. Vitamin D, though, is something you get from sunlight most effectively. Formula has vitamin D added (as does cow's milk).
So if you live somewhere that is very dark in the winter, and very cold, where you don't get much sunlight, that is when you may want to consider a vitamin D supplement. Kellymom.com has more information about how much sunlight is needed and when you might want to supplement. :D
