View Full Version : Starting to dread NIP

I got my first shocked "Are you STILL BFing?? :shocker:" comment when Mia was 4 months old. Then my next was around 8 months, from a good friend of mine with a daughter the same age. Now at 1 year old, it seems that every single time I NIP, I'm guaranteed to get to get that question. It's usually followed by "But she has all those teeth! Doesn't she bite?? :eyebrow:".

It's not even that people are necessarily negative about it, but the shock in their voice, and the fact that I get asked that every single time, is starting to get on my nerves.

I know I shouldn't let it get to me but it is!

Ignore the comments, you are a fantastic mother for doing what is best for your sweet Mia . People will always be rude/have negative things to say- just keep telling yourself you know what is right and you are doing the right thing :hugs:

sorry mama, I noticed my MIL getting uncomfortable with my nursing these days. Your doing an awesome thing. Let it roll of your back (I know easier said then done).

People are stupid!
I rarely nurse in public cause Caleb just gets too distracted & gets mad & won't eat. .. but i get shocked when they found out I'm still breastfeeding & he's 14 months old.
((((hugs))) you're doing awesome mommy don't let 'em get to ya

Thanks guys. I should add, that I'm not opposed to getting questions from friends who are genuinely curious about what they have in store when their babies get older. That's totally cool. :) It's just when people ask out of shock then make some dumb-a$$ed comment like "Well as long as you're not still BFing her when she's 5, hahaha!", it's really annoying. I just want to BF maybe baby in peace, you know, not answer the same dumb questions over & over.

ETA: Oh and I know people here have dealt with far worse - I'm just whiny today.
