First period while breastfeeding...

This is my first post...I get most of my questions answered just by reading your posts! Thanks :silly:

But I have a question for you other BTDT Breastfeeding moms...

When did you get your cycle back? And for those of you who got preggos while bfding...did you have implantation bleeding?

I had 3 days of spotting brown and then nothing and a week later 1 day of red. I am tired, SUPER emotional and very "achy" I did poas a week ago but it was negative. Should I test again?

I am looking for a new OBGYN and hopefully will get in to see them soon.

By the way I have been nursing for 9 mons.

I got my period back at 9 months post partum with Lorelai. I wasn't expecting her at all, I was on the mini-pill and nursing several times a day. I wasn't able to conceive until I had weaned. This time around I am 14 months PP not on BC and still haven't had AF, but I've been feeling like she's about to show up any day for a few months. I had some spotting in January (like, just a drop and only once) and then nothing. HTH!

Welcome! I am one of the unlucky ones who got their period early while BFing. I got it last month.I was achy and VERY emotional. I had spotting a month before that, but this time was almost like a normal AF, just lighter.

I've had off & on spotting (usually pinkish/brownish) from around 7.5 months PP, never regular and not what I would consider a true AF. Sometimes I would spot less than 2 weeks apart. I got my first true AF (red bleeding requiring a pad or tampon, not just a pantyliner) at 10.5 months PP, the next AF came at 13 months PP (not regular yet). Between, I did have another episode of spotting (lasting about 2 days). And I knew I wasn't pregnant because DH and I hadn't DTD (he had back problems and recently had surgery).

Probably I would have tested if we had DTD and I could have been pregnant, but I knew I wasn't. I did have the same type of spotting early on in my pregnancy with DD, so it's confusing!

DS#1 I had no spotting while BFing and got my AF around 11 months pp and it didn't regulate until around 16-18 months (its been so long I can't remember exactly).
DS#2 AF came back around 3 months pp:headbang: but we were in a stressful situation so that might have played a part in it.

I got mine back 5 weeks PP and had almost one straight cycle for about 5 months. I'm not even joking. I would get a week off, maybe 2 at the most and start bleeding again. The dr. said it was most likely due to the mini pill messing with my hormones and that there was nothing she could do. It was VERY hard to BF with a constant period, I was constanly taking herbals and prescriptions and eating oatmeal and all that but I could never increase my milk supply enough to satisfy her so I had to quit after about 5 1/2 months. It was hell.
