View Full Version : carseat harness to 65lbs in small car

Anyone have a smaller car and use the bigger seats that harness to 65lbs? We've got a Focus and DD is nearly 4 and close to outgrowing her carseat so we need a new one. With the baby coming she can't have the middle seat, they'll both be on the outside so the head height is going to be shorter and I'm worried about getting a seat that sits up high to begin with. I don't want her bonking her head on the ceiling :)

So if you've got one, how well does it fit in there on the side seats? And since I'm already asking anyhow, do you have pictures of this you could share? :)

Not everything is available at BRU in-store so taking them for a test fitting in the car or even just looking/measuring how high up the kid actually sits off the regular seat may not be possible for all the different ones that go to 65lbs.

checkout sunshine kids. radian65 or radian80. they are made solid like britax but are slimmer.

It looks like, where she's always been on the growth charts she won't reach the 65lb and 49" mark until she's 7 years old. So it looks like at least the 65lb seats will get us to where I think I'll feel ok with her just using a booster.

I always wondered how old a kid would be when they get to be 65 pounds.

We put a Britax Decathlon (one of the bigger ones) in a dodge Neon and it fits rear and forward facing. I don't need a lot of leg room as a driver though.

That's always a tough one...my niece has always been petite...then sprouted all of a sudden!

I have the graco nautilus 3 in 1.
Mason was too big for his car seat and was supposed to go into a booster but it was just not safe to me. The Nautilus was about 160.00 and it is not as bulky as some of the other. It has a 5 point harness that goes up to 65 lbs and a booster that goes up to 100 lbs. He is not too high and the seat has a recline. He is 47 pounds and 46 inches high.

That was going to be my suggestion. We have two of them and a graco safeseat in the back seat of my 2000 explorer. They fit great!
