Wow! You're weaning? Where have I been????? I'm so out of the loop. I'm eager to hear how it goes (I'm feeling very exhausted with nursing lately. eek).

well not really weaning..but gently nudgeing her in that direction..i feel awful but lately i just dont want to nurse :( its like im forceing myself to do it..she only nures a few minutes before bed or nap time and maybe a couple times a week in the morning for a few mintues so really not more than a few mintues a day..i feel awful i just am not there anymore inside i want to be done..i was all gung ho on lettin her soley wean herself but not i realize like so many have said it has to be mutual if one is not in the game than i think we need to work together to wean. :( ugh its so hard to say..its been about three years but i feel like im scarring her for life doing this..

so were not 100% weaning im just nudgeing like maybe she will forget about it  if i distract her enough..if she cries and gets upset about it i give in..but if i can get her mind off it i do..

ok that got to be really long i guess i needed to talk about it..

so yeah :indifferent:

I've been feeling pretty crappy about breastfeeding lately too, and I'm about a year behind you. Its hard sometimes and I'm starting to think about think about weaning. But its hard to even think about. So....yeah. :comfort:

It look me like 1 day. We did it really slowly though. I suppose it won't take that long for you since you don't nurse that often anymore.

hey girlie how did you do it? any tips?

i cant listen to her cry and be upset so any advice would be great..like i said when she nurses i only let her nurse for 1 min on each side before bed and she is fine..lately she isnt askin to nurse when she is upset so that is good..its mainly just to fall asleep..at night ive been lettin her fall asleep watching tv downstairs so she isnt tempted lol while we snuggle in her bed..im so bad

maggie i hear ya..its sooo hard...ugh..

I went slowly, too. It took me about 1 week before it got painful, 2 weeks before the pain went away, and now about 3 1/2 months later I can still get a few drops out if I squeeze, but there really is nothing there. I mean, I would have considered myself dry soon after the pain went away.

Good luck to you!

I had engorgement pain for about 3 weeks after weaning my son. It took over a year though for there to be nothing in there when I squeezed a nipple, but it was hardly anything in there.

I have a friend who said she was still producing a year after weaning- nothing painful but she could squeeze out some drops. I weaned while I was pregnant and continued to produce through the rest of the pregnancy.

It took me about 3 weeks. I sort of had to bribe Tristyn as well. She had never had chocolate milk so everytime she asked to nurse I would offer the choc. milk and she almost always choose that. It took about 5 days, and then I had to work on weaning from the constant choc. milk (but that wasn't that bad at all).
