My daughter is teething. I gave her some baby Tylenol b/c it was bothering her a lot/keeping her awake. That was about 2 hours ago, and she's still upset. Can I use Baby Orajel, as well? I'm guessing since it's topical (and Tylenol is not), it's OK...but at the same time, I hate to use so many meds. Thoughts? Is Baby Orajel pretty innocuous?

TIA!

I think its fine but often it doesn't last long. Try some frozen fruit in a mesh feeder. And we use motrin (after 6 mths) because tylenol doesn't do anything for my girls.

I haven't used the baby orajel so I have no idea(too scared to use it). But we use(d) the teething tablets along with a cold teether or something. That usually calms her.

Thanks, ladies. Fortunately, she fell asleep right after I posted. I've heard several talk about teething tabs before...I guess I need to get some. :)

My doc forbid me to use Baby Orajel...he's upset its still on the market. he said that it can cause the baby's airway to become numb and they can have trouble breathing. I had some (never used it) and threw it away. I need the teething tablets too.

I'm glad she fell asleep! We used teething tabs, and Motrin for the reallly bad nights. Tylenol didn't help at all.

I would try the teeting tablets. Like a PP mentioned, the orajel is kinda dangerous as it can make their tongue and mouth numb, making breathing and swallowing difficult..

Wow. That's scary. I don't think I'll be using it anymore. I used it once, and it was the tiniest little dab--and I put it on my gums at the same time so I knew exactly what she was feeling. That's scary, though, to think of breathing complications. Definitely not worth the risk.

ITA... I hate my mouth numb (which it is right now since I just got a filling) so I can't imagine Andrew would like it either and I have read bad things about it..

We swear by teething tablets and we have used the homepathic teething drops as well. Andrew thinks that the teething tablets are candy..

I cut frozen fruit in large sizes and put them in a bound cheese cloth or baby washcloth. My little ones love it. I also have done it with regular ice cubes or frozen juice cubes. Being that the cloth is bound there is no way they can choke. A mesh feeder works great too.

Thank you! We get the "baby doll" comment a lot. :)
Your little one is super adorable, too! So precious.
