Well, I got my OB to write me a script back on the 20th and I noticed a huge difference the next day! I have a huge abundance of BM now and I've been able to get my fridge stash to 4 days and still pack some in the freezer! The only side effects I am feeling is extremely tired at the end of the day--where I can't even keep my eyes open come 9:30 at night.

I am taking 10 mg 3 times daily. Love the stuff!

I am so glad it is working for you! :silly: I am right now under a lot of stress and even Reglan can't quite keep up with it, but at least Jacob will be 1 this week. :winks:

It's doing wonders here too! I routinely get 10+ ounces now from my first double pumping of the workday. But I also get bone tired at night sometimes, especially if I don't take the midday dose with food.

who prescribed this for you? they have not even suggested it for me and my daughter's weight gain is very slow...

Weight gain can be slow without a supply issue (can be other factors at play). A mom I used to work with would pump two or three times what her daughter would eat while she was at work. Is the pediatrician concerned about her gain?

But if you're concerned, ask a lactation consultant for more info. My OB perscribed it on the advice of my LC.

she said we can go another week and bring her in again next week for another weight check. if it is only up 3oz again from this week to next then we would have to start supplementing.

I am so frustrated...

Acceptable weight gain is 1/2 to 1 ounce per day, so ~3oz/week would be on the low end, but not SO terrible, I think.

Is she back up over her birthweight yet? Have you seen a lactation consultant?

I would avoid supplementing until you have met with a good LC. Hugs mama!

I have met with 2 really good ones. there is nothing we can do about the compressing of my nipple that she is doing. I am nto supplementing...

I am going to try this route...feed her on each side until she stops nursing well...once she slips and starts at my nipple then I will take her off and switch sides. Then I will pump. So it will probably increase my feeds of her to every hour to hour and a half...but should increase my supply some too.

So we'll see what happens. I have a call in to the lactation consultant as well...she is going to have to call me later this afternoon.

Ugh, I know 1/2 ounce a day is acceptable weight gain on the low end...i just wish it were better so I had a more satisfied child...which I am sure I am not alone.

I called my OB office and they do not prescribe ANYTHING for increasing supply....so that option is out for me.

I'd petition your regular doc if your OB won't do it. My OB (well, the nicest one at the practice!) called in my Rx for it, thankfully.

Can one of the LCs you've seen fax info from the Dr. Hale book (Medications and Mother's Milk) to your OB to educate them on the prescription galactagogues, and their efficacy and safety?

Hugs mama. Remind me—have you tried the herbal supplements and a lot of oatmeal?

I swear I noticed a definite increase after eating like an entire plastic clamshell package of supermarket bakery oatmeal raisin cookies... :shame:

I have tried More Milk Plus supplement by motherlove(??? I think)
I have not noticed a huge change. I am going to wait to see what my OB says when she calls me back tomorrow. I only talked to the nurse line because my OB was out and they told me that they do not prescribe things for it...so hopefully I can change her mind when talking to her tomorrow. Ugh, it is so frustrating.

I might call the lactation and ask, but I have asked if there was anything other then herbals and she keeps telling me no...so who knows.

I just want this to work. I am so not ready to do formula and dael with a fussy baby because it makes them so fussy...I know this one from experience with the previous two...

By 9pm I can't even keep my eyes open!! It does make me so tired at the end of the day. My hubby helps out with the baby at night when he walks in the door so I can crash.
